Sunshine Kids Market
On September 7, 2024, Vivistop Honolulu proudly participated in the Sunshine Kids Market, hosted by Sunshine People Market at The Barn at SALT in Our Kakaʻako. This special event celebrated Hawaiʻi’s youngest creators, giving them a real platform to sell, connect, and experience what it means to run a small business. All proceeds from the entrance sales went to supporting our kids’ programming.
Keiki vendors filled the space with a wide range of thoughtful, handcrafted, and creative goods — everything from sewn accessories and art to handmade crafts, baked goods, and secondhand resale. For many of our youth, it was their very first time participating in a public market.
Leading Up to Market Day: The Micro Biz Experience
This one-day event was the culmination of our Micro Biz Experience, a focused two-week program designed to help kids go from idea to launch.
The experience began with mandatory brainstorming sessions on August 24 or 27, where participants decided whether they wanted to sell a product, resell secondhand items, or provide an interactive experience at the market. Over the following two weeks, they had access to optional maker days to develop their product, build their brand, and prepare their displays all with support from the Vivistop team.
It was a short timeline, but the transformation was real. By market day, youth came in prepared and proud. The feedback from the community reflected just how much it meant to see them in action.
The Beginning of Something Bigger
The Sunshine Kids Market wasn’t just a one-day event. It became the spark for something more. It marked the beginning of Vivistop Honolulu’s entrepreneurship programming. A new path for youth that aligned perfectly with what we do. To explore creativity, leadership, and business in a way that’s hands-on, supportive, and rooted in community.
We’re incredibly grateful to Mayo of Sunshine People Market for opening the door and giving keiki a space to shine. This was just the start.
