Weaving workshop w/ Reina Young Designs
To celebrate Earth Day, we invited local artist and small business owner Reina Young of Reina Young Design to lead a special Weaving Workshop at Vivistop Honolulu. An afternoon that honored sustainability and creative reuse through textile art.
The workshop invited youth to explore the art of weaving using upcycled and repurposed materials like fabric scraps, cardboard, and string. Reina shared not only her technique, but also how she began her weaving journey and what inspires her work.
As the kids worked the cardboard “looms”, a quiet energy filled the space — focused, playful, and grounded. It wasn’t just about the final piece; it was about being present with the process and finding rhythm in repetition.
This Earth Day, we didn’t talk about change, we wove it.
Through Reina’s guidance, participants learned that art can be a tool for sustainability, a reflection of values, and a form of expression that connects us back to the world around us.
At Vivistop, our goal is to cultivate a generation of creative leaders who build with intention and lead with heart. This workshop was one small, beautiful step in that direction.
